Cogeneration (or CHP—combined heat and power) is the process of using
energy to simultaneously generate electricity and steam.
We will
install state-of-the-art cogeneration equipment which will reduce the
steam and electricity requirements of the entire facility. We expect our
facilities to be at least 90% thermally efficient.
The
synthetic methane gas from the anaerobic digester is burned in a gas
turbine that transmits a mechanical force that is used to create
electricity. At the same time, the turbine produces exhaust gases that
heat water to make process steam.
